Jim Vann Chair of GHT accepts the cheque of £500 from Nicola Thorp of Arras People

I was fortunate enough to gain a greater insight into a local charity this week when dropping by with a donation of £500 to the welfare fund. Last year we ran project management careers clinics charging a nominal £25 for a 30 minute session with a dedicated specialist consultant surrounding project management and recruitment, donating the proceeds to a number of locally run initiatives one being George House Trust (A HIV Voluntary organisation for North West England) . Whilst at George House I was treated to a tour of the building and given an insight into the challenges faced by people living with HIV. A recent requirement has been identified within the Trust to set up a small project which will provide counseling and support for people living with HIV to move back into employment once medication has stabilised and employment benefits stop.

In discussing the project with Jim Vann (Chair of GHT) it became clear that a relatively small project in our eyes is indeed very complex and requires a great deal of planning and to put in place an effective framework. The benefits are huge (especially to the individual) and the capability is strong – however GHT are still looking for volunteers to join the team in all areas and deeply appreciate any input as I found when we were so warmly greeted this week.
