Time out to see a local community project

We just had a few hours out of the office this afternoon to visit a local animal sanctuary, Bleakholt. Last year we raised £500 for Bleakholt to help them with ongoing projects. At the moment they are a thriving dogs home, donkey sanctuary, cat home, horse rescue, pig rescue and visitors centre. All this is just on our doorstep, with stunning views across the hills, so an ideal place to blow away the cobwebs for a few hours as we took a look around. It’s good to see how projects are working in your local community and an animal sanctuary is no exception.
A noisy busy place with dedicated staff and boisterous animals, it’s also quite a heartbreaking place (as you can see we nearly had a new office dog!) But like any good community /charity based programmes, strong leadership, passionate staff and great delivery of new initiatives and projects keeps the good cause thriving.
We were lucky enough to meet Serpie whilst we were there, Serpie is a 40 year old ex-circus horse who accepted the donation we made today. Serpie not only shakes hands very well, but is also able to get himself back into the stable each day (and out if they let him!)
